ESCAPED FROM HONG KONG
Among the Britons who escaped from Hong Kong under the leader- ship of the one-legged Chinese admiral, Chang Chak, and reached Free China were the following, according to an unofficial list avail- able in Chungking yesterday.:
Mr. David M. McDougall, Perth, Scotland, and Mr. Charles E. Ross, Vancouver, both of the Ministry of Information; Cmdr. Hugh Montague of Okaihau, New Zealand; Lt.-Cmdrs. H. Randy. Brockenhurst, Hampshire, and J. H. Yorath, Byfleet, Surrey: Lts. J. Collingworth, Carlisle, A. Kennedy, Glasgow, R. R. Ashby, Horley, Surrey, T. M. Parsons, Hong Kong, S. Pethick, Plymouth. A. Pittendrich, Newcastle; Sub-Lts. D. P. Legge, 'Shanghai, and A. E. Gee, Toronto, and Wt. Öffr. M. Wright, Scarborough, naval officers.
In addition, 38 naval ratings are under- stood to be in the party, which also includes: Major A. Goring, Lancing, Sussex; Capt. R. Guest, Cheltenham; Capt. P. McMillan, Barn- ham; Sqdn. Lds. Max Oxford, Bournemouth; Mr. W. Robinson (Indian Police), Oxford; Mr. A. Marchant, Victoria. B.C.; Mr. C. Skinner, Sunderland; Mr. N. Halladay. North Shields, and Mr. H. Christiansen, Shanghai.
FACTORY EXPLOSION
The Ministry of Supply stated last night that an explosion occurred yesterday in the neighbourhood of a Royal Ordnance factory in the West of England. As a result two persons were killed and three injured.
Production at the factory will not be affected.
